    Responsibilities

    AEgis Technologies is seeking a highly qualified Research Scientist supporting the nano-optics research and development group. The Research Scientist will be responsible for experimental laser testing and characterization of nonlinear metamaterials and plasmonic devices for military and commercial applications. The candidate should have extensive experience with ultrafast (femtosecond) lasers, OPO, OPA, experimental optical setup, measurements and characterization. Experience in electromagnetic modeling and simulation in nonlinear nanophotonic optical materials is a plus. We expect the candidate to eventually develop his/her own strategic research agenda and progressively become the group’s technical lead for experimental nonlinear optics. Candidates should have a strong fundamental background in nanophotonics and a desire to develop and commercialize new technologies. The Research Scientist will work collaboratively as a member of a research team in a dynamic work environment and must possess strong interpersonal skills to coordinate/collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

    Qualifications

     

    • Ph.D. in engineering or physics
    • Established research experience, in areas of nonlinear optics, laser-matter interactions, and harmonic generation.
    • Experience with ultrafast lasers (femtosecond and/or picosecond) including OPO, and OPA.
    • Passion for applied research projects with the goal of transitioning new technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace
    • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated
    • Demonstrated strong peer-reviewed publication record
    • Able to contribute to technical reports and proposals
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance
