    Responsibilities

    AEgis Technologies is seeking a qualified technical writer / training developer to work as part of a team working on a government sponsored engineering program. The selected candidate will write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, system user manuals, Operator Maintenance Manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, Setup and Teardown Manual and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications in accordance with military standard 3008, Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) formats. Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing systems and software engineers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering illustrations. Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conduct quality review of materials. Creates Programs of Instruction, Student Guides, Instructor Guides, Quick Reference Guides, Pocket Guides, Test Packages, Online Help, etc. A Training Developer (TD) works with a broad range of team members to include Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), engineers, graphics specialists, photographers, and customers. It is important that a TD has an ability to interview and extract necessary information from the SMEs to help produce student and instructor guides and course management plans. Strong technical writing skills are mandatory.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Candidate MUST currently possess an active Top Secret Clearance
    • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
    • 3-5 years relevant experience working with military technical documents related to training development, training delivery, and integrated logistics support (AR’s, Mil Specifications and Preferences, Technical Bulletins, IETMs, DIDs, etc.).
    • Sound interpersonal skills for interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.

    • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations

    Desired Skills:

    • DoD experience preferred, in an engineering environment with a demonstrated understanding of functional interrelationship of systems engineering, design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and logistics.

    • Formal training as a Military Training Developer and/or Instructor/Writer and 5 years related experience

    • Certificate in Technical Communication or Technical Writing from accredited college/university

    • Experience working in AGILE software development environment

    • Experience documenting Graphic User Interfaces (GUI)

    • Experience as military training developer, and/or instructor writer

    Required Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, writing, graphics design or related field from an accredited university (four years of additonal related expereince in lieu of degree).
