Description: AEgis Technologies is seeking a highly qualified Research Scientist supporting the nano-optics research and development group. The Research Scientist will be responsible for assisting group members in the fabrication and characterization of next generation nanophotonic materials. The candidate must have extensive cleanroom experience and familiarity with equipment for lithography, thin film deposition, wet/dry etching, and optical characterization. Candidates with a strong research background in nanophotonics and metamaterials is preferred. Familiarity with large-area nanofabrication techniques is desired. The Research Scientist will work collaboratively as a member of a research team in a dynamic work environment and must possess strong interpersonal skills to coordinate/ collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

New Hire Success Factors:

  • 30 days Getting up to speed with projects.
  • 60 days Fully integrated into the daily operations of programs.
  • 90 days Under minimum supervision be able to conduct research.


  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated.
  • PhD or MS in physics or engineering.
  • Strong background in cleanroom fabrication processes.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
  • Established research experience in nanophotonics, plasmonics and metamaterials.
  • Demonstrated strong peer-reviewed publication record.
  • Able to contribute to technical reports and proposals.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
