AEgis Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer to join its team located at Eglin AFB, Florida.  The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of software supporting high fidelity real-time simulations in the field of scene generation.  The skills which are most important to be successful in this position include competency in C++, software development experience and a familiarity with the Linux operating system.   Some knowledge of high performance computing (HPC) practices and experience programming on distributed systems is optimal but not a requirement.  Candidates familiar with scene generation, graphics processing with OpenGL or general purpose GPU computing with CUDA and/or OpenCL are highly desirable.   The Software Engineer will work in a research lab with a team of scientists and engineers and is expected to have a basic competency in mathematics and physics and the ability to work through and solve difficult non-standard computer related issues that arise.             


Minimum Education Requirement:  The candidate must possess at minimum a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computational Science, Computational Mathematics, Computational Physics or any degree which has provided the candidate with a substantial background in C++ programming, exposure to the Linux operating system and a solid foundation in undergraduate mathematics including calculus, linear algebra and discrete mathematics. 


Desired Qualifications:  An advanced degree in one of the fields listed above and experience in any of the following areas will be considered highly desirable

  • Knowledge of HPC theory and methods, particularly parallelization and communication with MPI.
  • Experience with the use of Linux based HPC systems.  
  • Experience with graphics processing units (GPUs) and graphics processing with OpenGL or Vulcan.
  • Experience with general purpose GPU computing with CUDA or OpenCL.
  • Experience programming and using Intel Phi Many Integrated Core (MIC) processors.
  • Experience programming and using IBM cell processors.
  • Experience with FPGAs and the VHDL programming language.
  • Knowledge or experience with scene generation software.
  • Advanced knowledge of mathematics including differential equations and numerical analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of RHEL based Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Fedora).
  • Knowledge or experience with real-time operating systems.
  • Exposure to Linux system administration tasks (software and driver installation, network protocols, policy management, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of various computer hardware components, their interconnects, and how they interact.
  • Familiarity and experience with agile software development practices.
  • Experience creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs) on Linux based systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of various computer science topics including operating systems, file systems, networks, compilers, etc.
  • Experience with firmware and driver development.



Successful candidate must be a US citizen and able to obtain a SECRET security clearance
